2 Posts in One Day

Wow I can update more than once a week! Just wanted to share about my night. Had our college age Bible Study tonight, and it went really well. It was the first week that I was really able to share, and not lead the group but step out and share my experiences, and my thoughts. We're going through Max Lucado's book A Gentle Thunder, and tonights lesson talked about if Jesus came physically to our church how would we respond, and what presuppositions do we have about God. Why do we put God in a box. It was neat just to look at Scripture, and discuss how awesome and amazing God really is, and how we shouldn't put him in a box or exalt ourselves above Him, but we need to understand that he is everything. I came home really excited about the group and about the night! Hope there's more like it

Summer's Here

Things are going well. Summer ministry is in full swing even though it's cold and rainy today. This is pretty much the last quiet week for a while. Upcoming we have a high school Sunday school overnighter July 9-10, the Jr. High Seattle Trip July 14-17 and our High School Wildhorse trip July 23-29, with Movie Nights, and BBQ's thrown in there. It's nice being busy. This past weekend went really well. I finally got a chance to do some stuff with some guys outside of church. We went and expereinced the A & W! It's great stuff! Yesterday we had a jr. high golf tourney and it went really well. We had 12 kids, which is the biggest number in a while. Alot of new 7th graders came, so that was good. It's looking like it will be a girl dominated group this year, with a lot of the guys moving up. Sunday school is also going really well. We're going through the group of Philippians, and yesterday went really well. The passage was 1:12-26 and the jr. highers seemed to really relate to Paul, and were amazed with his attitude through all the trials he was going through. They asked good questions and seemed really into it! I was really encouraged.

Praise
  • I'm no longer sick! I still have a small lingering cough, but it's much better!
  • I finally got to do something with students outside of church!

Prayer Requests
  • Pray for our upcoming trips: (Overnight, Seattle Trip, Wildhorse) that the planning will all come together and that those trips will have a big impact on what happens when they get back.
  • Pray that I can make an impact on the college group. Pray that I can step up, lead and encourage, and have an impact on my peers. Pray that the group will be united and not be separated.
  • Pray that I can continue to do events outside of church activities especially with the high schoolers that have been harder to reach
  • Pray that our Philippians study will be more than just giving the "right" answer in Sunday School but that they'll put things into practice in their everyday lives.
  • Keep Praying for the Alaska team, updates sound like things are going well so far. Again to keep update with them their blog page is http://www.harbor-alaska.blogspot.com/

Hope to update more frequently, as things happen!

Update

It's been a really good last week. It's been nice getting back down here and back into the flow again after a couple weeks of up and down to Seattle. Yesterday was our high school summer kickoff beach trip and had 18 teens which was Awesome! That's the largest summer activity the church has had since Wescott's been here. It's great to see the teens show up outside of Monday night at 7 and want to be a part of what's going on. Had a chance to hang out with some kids I wouldn't normally see too much on a regular Monday night, so that was a neat opportunity.
Jr. High Summer stuff has also kicked off. In Sunday School we're going through the book of Phillippians and I'll be teaching most weeks I'm here during the summer. The past few weeks we've had really small turnout for our jr. high events. We had 6 at our summer kick off bbq which is the most we've had a couple weeks. Seems like everyone's busy in the summer and youth group hasn't been a priority.
Some Prayer Requests:
I'm feeling much better than last week, but the cough still won't go away
Pray that I can get into contact with some of the guys outside of church. Haven't been able to do that in a while. I'd love to get a weekly guys bible study or something weekly going on in the summer.
Also I finished building a resume and am starting to apply for jobs in September, so just pray that God will lead me to the right place.

This week seems to be pretty quiet, so hopefully I can get a chance to hang out outside of church. Also don't forget to be praying for the Boulevard team to Alaska that takes off later this week as well.
I'll update again soon!

I'm still alive...

I've been reminded that it's been way too long since I posted last. It's been a really busy, but really fun last couple of weeks. 2 weekends ago I was up in Seattle for some graudation stuff, and spoke at Boulevard's High school sunday school and jr. high sunday night. It was a lot of fun to catch up with people, and share some of the things that are going on down here.
Our school year ministries have come to an end. We finished our last 180 (high school) last week the 6th with a end of the year banquet. The leaders served the students, and we all watched a video/slide show of the year's events. The night went really well. Everyone seemed to have a good time looking back on the last year, but also looking forward to the summer. We had a break this week, but start our summer program on the 20th with a Beach Trip! Junior High ministries finished Sunday night. Many of the students must've thought it finished sooner because we had only 3 students with 6 leaders. There was only one guy, so it was neat being able to talk to him in a smaller group and get to know him better. Jr. High Summer stuff kicks off this Friday night with a bbq. That's where we welcome the incoming 7th graders also. I spent most of last week up in Seattle again get ready for the actual graduation ceremony. I wasn't looking forward to going through it, but it ended up being a ton of fun even though it poured with rain. The early part of this week is pretty quiet, so it's nice to get a chance to get caught up on stuff, and not feel rushed. I'm really enjoying my time down here, it was weird being up in Seattle so long, wanting to be back down here at the same time. My big prayer request right now is that I'm sick. I've been fighting a cold and nasty cough for about a week now. Just prayer, that I can sleep at night despite the coughing and that I get better, before a busy weekend. Thanks!

Been a while

It's been a long time since my last post. This will be a quick update, but I'm back up in Seattle for the weekend for graduation stuff. I've been here since Wednesday, and have had a lot of fun catching up with people! I'll be at church on Sunday and around this weekend! I'll also be back up later next week to actually graduate. Scary thought, I've been done for a while, but next week I"ll be offiical. Well I hope to see a bunch of you while I'm up!
