Gotta see this movie

So normally I post about important stuff like church and what's going on, but I think it's important for me to support the movie "She's the Man." Me and Sarah went to see it tonight, and no movie has ever affected me in this way. This was by far the dumbest movie I have ever seen. It was one of those movies that is so cheesy and stupid that it's hilarious. I could feel my brain rotting as I was sitting through it. On one hand it was clean. Probably the cleanest teen movie, but it was horrible. For those who don't know, it's based off of Shakespear's 12th night, and the main character is a girl who pretends to be her brother to prove she can play soccer with the boys. It was so bad it was funny. I encourage everyone who wants to see a really dumb movie that rots your brain, see She's the Man. I'm speechless, see the movie!

Sun. evening fun

It's Sunday night, and at 10:39 I'm laying in bed on my wireless interent, wonderfully enjoying my early night. Today was a very interesting day of ministry. Sudnay school was one of those times, where I have a discussion/lesson planned and the group pulls it in a different but necessary direction. In the last few weeks some students hav eleft because they feel uncomfortable at youth group. This morning turned into a honest discussion about are we welcoming and how do we make those who feel uncomfortable feel comfortable. It was neat, because it's not where I intended or expected it to go, but it was really good. Even after Sunday school I could see some of the cliques begin to resach out. I hope it's not just a one day thing, but it actually becomes a part of our group.
Crew tonight was a blast. We played a new game that everyone loved. We played Siamese Soccer, which is soccer except you play while have your ankle tied with a rope to someone elses. It was hilarious to watch and a lot of fun. And no I didn't break or sprain anything.

Our new high school staff has been great. We're starting monthly leader dinners in a couple weeks. It'll be a great chance to build that team. I'm real excited about things, it's stressful and there's a lot going on, but dispite it all I see the fruit.
The biggest thing to pray for would be our group, that we can become one group and that we will be a place that's open and inviting and safe for all
And just because I've spent lots of time in Oregon, this article was hilarious for me. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2002876375_webbeaver19.html

Wonderful Day Off

It was so nice having a day off after several days of non stop busyness. My first experience with seminary was really good. I took a spiritual formation of youth class, and the first thing the prof did was tape pictures of youth that he works with and said this class isn't about theories, but in everything we talk about I'm thinking of these students. That was really encouraging. The 2 days were draining but nice. I got back and hit the ground running with a jr. high game night saturday night. It was a blast and I had no responsibilities! Two seniors rand the night, and did a great job. Sunday saw a youth committee meeting and a parent meeting along with our normal Crew night. Both meetings were very encouraging. I'm 2 days shy of being here 6 months and it's starting to feel like my group. IT's starting to not feel like an interim position. That has it's good and bad parts, considering at this point it is an interim position. I'm really encouraged with the group that we have and with everything that's going on, but there are still distractions. Some main prayer requests

Pray for our church and especially the Senior Pastor Search Committee and that process
Lots of stuff going on, that I can't post too many specifics, but just pray for protection for our students as many are getting pulled in lots of directions. Oh and those who may be wondering Me and Sarah are doing great!

Thanks for praying!

It finally happened....

I sprained my ankle for the first time at River Ridge Covenant Church, and it wasn't during a victory dance! I was playing indonesian kickball, and was running to first, and greg my intern tried to block me, well I stepped on his foot and rolled it. SO I'm hobbling around. Ministry tonight went pretty well, had low numbers but things seemed to go well. I'm sitting here updating from the Comfort Inn in Portland getting ready for seminary. Fun stuff

Update

Wow it's been way too long since I've updated. A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks. We had a high school retreat at the Kent's Cabin this weekend. It was the perfect venue for our retreat. We were a little tight space wise, but everyone had a great time. And I only rolled my ankle once treking up the driveway. The retreat seemed to accomplish exactly what I wanted too. We had 14 students, and seemed that people got out of their little box and spent time with with thsoe they didn't know all that well. We also had 2 great times of worship/discussion fri and sat. night. Through all the transition of the last couple of months, it's been a struggle of who's going to stay and who's not and what's going to happen. This weekend seemed like we got a core group together and can rebuild from there.
The business doesn't stop after the retreat. I have a seminary class in Portland on Thursday-Friday so pray for that, and pray I can get all the work done before I go also.
We have a parent meeting next Sunday. Please pray for that as we talk about where we're at fundraising wise and get the calendar out. There's my update. Thanks for praying and I will try to update more often
